Art and the artistic process have been two driving forces throughout my entire life. I am most content while I am ensconced in the creative process. As I have grown as an artist I have come to value artistic interpretation and mastery of materials over exactness and photo-like imagery. My goal is to capture moments in time and bring my viewers to places that touch me. Most of my art reflects that which intrigues me through some intrinsic beauty or through a juxtaposition of subject matter, but other very important pieces are centered on social issues or issues that I wish to call my viewers attention to.
I enjoy painting in both traditional and experimental manners. While I paint in my studio during the cold weather months, I love paintings outdoors and on location. I have been an active member of Indiana Plein Air Painters since 2005 and have greatly benefited from many plein air events!
Diane has benn painting for over 30 years. Her work is held in public, corporate and private collections throughout the county. She received her formal art education from Indiana University South Bend, where the department head, Alan Larkin, allowed her to share a studio for a number of years with him. She now works as a full time artist.
