An Unexpected Feast for the Pastel Palate:
A retrospective exhibit of pastel paintings inspired by a 2012 trip to Wales & Cornwall with my brother and sister-in-law, owners of Fiddler's Hearth restaurant in South Bend. After touring castles and silver mines and exploring gourmet eateries and pubs as an "official taster," I discovered many of the tranquil landscapes and scenery unexpectedly “begged” to be photographed and later painted in soft pastels. Featured pieces reflect a range of inspiration from a still life on the bar from the Walnut Tree outside of Abergavenny, Wales, to a tranquil farm path at Becher's Cottage in Monmouthshire, South-East Wales. Each painting is shown alongside its reference photo and shows the transformation of image to art. The paintings created over the past year are an unexpected feast for the eyes with vibrant colors from my palette of pastels. Come savor the scenery of the UK.
